FLOCKMAN Trial (Controlled Feeding) Overall Assessment

Facilities - two identical Poultry Houses, 25,500 bird capacity each; on an isolated site but sharing management with other farms. The FLOCKMAN System was installed in House 2 in the autumn of 1993 for one crop, which was used for management familiarisation.

The FLOCKMAN system has been trialled for the subsequent 10 crops and the performance monitored against House 1, the Control. The same number of birds of the same breed have been stocked in all crops. Controlled feeding was introduced in August 1994. Since then there have been 6 crops. One crop has been excluded due to an outbreak of respiratory disease.
