| Normally Chicken are fed a sequence of 3
or 4 feeds during their life. (Turkeys have 6-7). They start high in % Protein in the "Starter" and gradually progress to lower levels in the "Finisher" feed.
This means that on the day they move from one feed to the next, they move from a surplus of protein (shown in green) to a deficit in protein (shown in blue) on the graph below. We call this "Step Feeding". The true requirement for protein changes gradually each day, as shown by the curve in the Graph. By automatic blending between 2 feeds at the poultry house, FLOCKMAN feeds the birds the correct amount of protein each day. Normally the excess protein (shown in green), has to be excreted by the birds, as it is surplus to their needs. This leads to ammonia and noxious smells in the house and pollution of the environment. The birds have to drink more water to flush out the uric acid through their kidneys, which can also lead to wet, sticky litter and feet abnormalities. When protein is short, (shown in blue), growth suffers. FLOCKMAN fed birds scratch more in the dryer litter, have better legs, grow more smoothly, are healthier and suffer less mortality. Smells are reduced and the environment for both bird and human is improved. |
