| How does FLOCKMAN
Work? 4. How the Bird Weighers work: |
|
| Accurate records of the
weights of birds are necessary for a control system to work properly. For a discussion on
"Why you should weigh Turkeys" (and Broilers) See Article
from "Turkeys" Magazine. a) We need to know each day how the average bird weight compares to the day's target. b) We need to accurately predict the weights of birds into the factory so as to meet the often strict customer demand. Chicken Weigher |
|
| The electronic bird weighers use accurate load cells
which weigh any bird on the scale to within 0.5%. The software integrates the oscillating
weight on the load cell and only when a stable average is seen is this weight recorded.
The weight has to be within prescribed limits of the expected weight for the day. So if
two or more birds are on the scale, the weight is not recorded. Weighs 500-600 per day at the start of the crop and about 100/day towards the end. Self taring between weighings to allow for debris on the platform. Easy to calibrate and Easy to clean between crops. The software allows for differential perching between heavy and light birds in the house and will predict the factory liveweight to ± 2%. |

| Turkey Weigher | |
| This is a 1 metre square open framed platform suspended
via a load cell from the roof. The platform is approx. 30-50cm from the floor and several birds will go on the platform at the same time. The weight of a bird is recorded when one gets off the platform by noting the difference in weight on the load cell before and after. Accuracy and other features are the same as for the Chicken Weigher. |
