FLOCKMAN automatically produces graphs of all production parameters. Some of these are shown below:- For the full report, e-mail david@flockman.com

Live weight for age as % Deviation from BUT target

Note: This graph shows the difference in the shape of the 2 growth curves quite clearly.

Early disease had a more severe effect on House 3 (the FLOCKMAN house) by depressing liveweight 17% below target! House 1 was also affected but was not affected as much with liveweight being depressed by 13%. Recovery started at week 7. House 1 (fed ad lib) recovered quickly and by 12 weeks were back on the BUT target. House 3 was control fed by FLOCKMAN in various ways so that growth was deliberately held back. This saved feed and improved FCR. By 15 weeks, House 3 was on target weight for age. By this time House 1 had surged ahead and reached 6.25% above target weight for age. However, as expected, they could not sustain this, and fell back to be just 3% above target at week 18.

At this point, the FLOCKMAN house was within 0.3% of target. When House 1 started to surge ahead again, we decided to aim the FLOCKMAN house at 20.7 kg at 22 weeks, which was a new BUT target about to be released. This was 3% above the target set into FLOCKMAN. House 1, by day 147 was 6.9% ahead of target. The inevitable fall away then started a week later, and on the day of slaughter House 1 was 4.8% above target at 20.865 kg at 153 days. Meantime the FLOCKMAN house was gaining steadily and was 20.839 kg at 154 days, just 1 day older than the other house. These weights are taken from the automatic OPTICON bird weighers.

The following graph shows daily feed intake for the FLOCKMAN fed birds

Daily feed intake gram per bird per day

Feed intake did not rise much above 600 g/bird/day due to FLOCKMAN feeding methods.
