Mini-FLOCKMAN Dawn-Dusk Dimmer

What is it?

Mini-FLOCKMAN Dawn-Dusk Dimmer has been designed for poultry producers to control dimmable lights in poultry houses. It turns the lights on and off gradually to simulate Dawn and Dusk so avoiding stress on the birds when lights are either switched on or off abruptly. It also controls the light intensity in the poultry house.

What are the benefits?

Mini-FLOCKMAN dispenses feed into the feed pans during dark periods and because when lights come on, they come on gradually, there is no rush of birds to the pans when the lights are switched on. This avoids excitement in the poultry house and stress on the birds. Similarly, when the lights go off gradually, birds begin to settle down to rest in groups in an orderly way. This avoids the birds being plunged into darkness in isolation where they are at the time, again avoiding stressing the birds. Typically birds are housed in bright light as day-olds, but in lower light intensity as they grow older, leading to more docile behavior and so minimising stress.

All the above improves bird health and welfare, leading to less mortality and better feed efficiency.

How does it work?

The Dawn-Dusk Dimmer is activated by connecting it to Mini-FLOCKMAN, a time clock or a similar device. When a contact is closed, lights start to come on gradually. The time from zero to fully on is controlled inside the Dawn-Dusk Dimmer within the range 0-30 minutes as decided by the poultry keeper. When fully on, the lights remain at this intensity until the contact is opened. Then the lights start to dim down over the time already decided. They remain off until the contact is closed again.

The poultry keeper controls the maximum light intensity in the house by turning the knob on the front of the box (see illustration above). "0" indicates OFF. "8" indicates maximum intensity. There is a switch for bypassing Mini-FLOCKMAN or the time clock when catching the birds.

Electrical

The Dawn-Dusk Dimmer works on 230 volts AC and also US and Canadian 3-phase supply. It copes with up to 16 Amps, (96 X 40-watt lamps at 240 volts or 83 X 40-watt lamps in the US and Canada). Farm installation is simple and full Installation Instructions are provided.

It has 12-months guarantee, a European CE mark, is RoHS compliant & comes with fixing screws and template.
